Welcome to HCSD's Genealogy Web Journal

Hi to all Hand County, SD Researchers/Searchers!  You'll find some "What's New" to the HCSD site entries here, along with ....well, "who knows?"  You are invited to post your comments, queries, or let us know if you found that one items which helped you break thru that brickwall in your family search.

After some time away from the site, I've recently got back at it.  Take a looksee...I've just uploaded to the (Ree Heights) RHHS Alumni site the 1955 Senior photos, along with the 1957 & 1958 yearbook.  I jump from one place to another as most of you have discovered.  What will be next is anyone's guess...but do stop by often to see the latest.

If you've searched the site and didn't find what you were hoping to, POST here...I may have it, but not yet online .... OR perhaps someone reading this has just the info you're looking for and will share it with all of us.

Thanks for stopping by...will be looking forward to your comments.

Hugs,

CSR, Webmaster - HCSD

I have just found this site. I am not much of a computer expert so I have no idea as to how I might profit from its use. A brach of my family has deep roots in Hand, Miller and Faulk counties (Heinzen family). If this site could be of value to me I would appreciate guidance from someone knowledgeable.

You have done a great job of bringing a lot of material together and making it available. Thanks for your efforts.

I am looking for obituaries of John A Dixon (1881-1941) and his wife, Minnie Dixon (1884-1953). Both buried in the IOOF Cemetery, St. Lawrence, SD. I do not have more specific dates (sorry).

I have retrieved the obituary for Dorothy Dixon (1922-2004) through this site and it has been tremendously valuable. I would also like to obtain the obituary of Dorothy Dixon's husband, Milo Dixon, (4 June 1918-__April 1990).

Any help you can provide would be appreciated.

Dear Ms. Rosemore: I have been producing a PBS documentary on Hubert Humphrey for the past six years. We are about to begin editing, and I would really like to use one or more of the photos of Doland that are on your site. I can't seem to find an email or phone to discuss it with you, so I'm hoping to find you here. Please respond at your convenience.

Thank you. Mick Caouette

Carolyn, thank you so much for the glimpses of Hyde County SD!! Your work is very much appreciated! I believe this is where my gr gr grandfather Arthur CAMPBELL lived at the end of his life, possibly April 1901, but I can't find him on the 1900 census. In 1884 he married Elizabeth S. MURPHY in Highmore, Hyde County. They are shown on the 1885 Hyde County SD Territorial Census. Between 1887-1889 Arthur purchased 320 acres of land in Hyde County and in 1889 Elizabeth homesteaded another 160 acres. They were listed as members of the Highmore Methodist Episcopal Church in 1888, she as a Steward. If any of this sounds familiar to any readers, please get back to me, with my thanks.
